Glass plates have been the medium for many original digital camera photography from the late 1850s until the final introduction of versatile plastic films through the Nineties. Because of the superior dimensional stability of glass, using plates for some scientific applications, such as astrophotography, continued into the 1990s, and in the area of interest area of laser holography, it has endured into the twenty first century. Jerry Takigawa’s long-term project, Balancing Cultures will be part of the Currents 2020 exhibition at the Odgen Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans at the side of PhotoNOLA.
