spent his first week of school in the Pediatric wing of Moses Cone hospital :( Last Tuesday ( his FIRST day of school!), he came home in a severe asthma attack. After a ride in an ambulance and 4 days in the hospital, (2 spent in the Intensive Care Unit on constant watch)…he’s back home and feeling much better. So that’s where I’ve been. On a cot in a hospital room, watching Noah’s pulse-ox machine and feeling like I was stuck in a nightmare. I know all of my moms out there know what I mean…life comes to a screaming halt when your child is really sick. You feel like you’re moving in slow motion…
I can’t thank the staff in the Pediatric Wing enough. A huge thank-you to Dr. Uhl, Dr. Williams, his nurses Donna, Erin, Nicole & Lisa and a BIG HUG to his respiratory therapist Greg who made him smile every time he walked in the door. This group took great care of the most precious thing in my life & I am forever indebted. We were all so worried…especially little Emery. Noah is his hero in every way, and when he saw him with an oxygen mask and a million cords, he couldn’t stop the sobs. Emery is our little fireball & always the tough guy, so seeing him so upset was heartbreaking. I think those 4 days were the longest my boys have ever been apart. They’re 2 peas in a pod. My little mop heads. I feel like the luckiest mommy in the world to have them back together and my sweet Noah back home. Thanks to everyone who sent well-wishes and prayers our way. They worked!! Also want to send huge hugs to my mom & dad, my brother & Amanda, and my grandmother ( yes, the boys’ great-grandmother!). Mark and I are very lucky to have such a great support system. We love you guys..
So, I hope you readers don’t mind me getting personal and sharing Noah’s crazy first week of school! These photos were taken a few days before he started getting sick. I could tell he wasn’t feeling great, but he wanted me to “take pictures, Mommy”..and I’m so glad I did. ( the knee-sock & crock combo are a Noah original, by the way :)

I’ve been waiting for a new blog post! : )
Those eyes on your children are stunning! I’m so glad he’s feeling better! How scary!!
Thanks for feeding my blog-crave.
I’m glad everything turned out okay. My family still has him and your family in our prayers.
I am so glad that he is okay. I have been thinking about him and your family constantly.
Hey Kellie,
I am SOOO glad to hear that he is ok! I wanted to ask what was going on, but that is the last thing you want to be doing is telling everyone you know what is going on! I am sure it was the worst feeling in the world! I would have been a basket-case! We have been thinking about you constantly! Hope he continues to get better! Take care! Joc
I’m so glad to hear this. Sick kids and worried parents make me sad. I can only imagine what a parent goes through in times like this and your words helped me imagine more. my heart goes out to you and your family. glad he’s on the up and up. love his style! love the pix as always.
I love these images!! So adorable :)
Very happy to hear everything is okay. I hope you guys get back into regular life easily and you enjoy all the time you can with your little men. :)
I am so sorry that happened, but so glad he is feeling better and home. Harrison spent four days there when he was 10 months, they are great. I hope he continues to improve and we will be thinking about you.
I’m so glad he’s feeling better! I’ve been thinking about you guys since Thursday. Thanks again for being such an awesome person to work with.
Kellie- I have been praying for you and your family! I figured something big had happened and I have been checking the blog like a mad woman, hoping and praying that everything was ok. I can’t tell you how many times your boy has crossed my mind this past weekend, and everytime it did I prayed “please God lay your Hand on him and heal him, be with Kellie and Mark and comfort them.” Looks like He came through. God is good all the time, and all the time He is good. :D
I’m in love with the above pictures. Especially Emery looking up at Noah such an amazing bond your two boys have. I’m so glad he’s so much better. I miss seeing those sweet faces everyday! Love you guys!
These guys are priceless. I feel like the luckiest uncle and brother in the universe!
